{"id":96,"date":"2016-01-20T06:00:43","date_gmt":"2016-01-20T12:00:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.grzesina.net\/meditation\/?p=96"},"modified":"2021-02-11T00:51:36","modified_gmt":"2021-02-11T06:51:36","slug":"2016-01-20-take-10","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.grzesina.net\/meditation\/2016-01-20-take-10\/","title":{"rendered":"January 20 &#8211; take 10"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dear Friends,<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s a short exercise to bring mindfulness to the changing nature of feeling tone.<\/p>\n<p>Mark Coleman, in week 8 of the on-line course <a class=\"postlink\" href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20160325094945\/http:\/\/www.spiritrock.org\/page.aspx?pid=289\">Essential Buddhist Teachings 1<\/a>, said,<br \/>\n&#8220;Another thing about pleasant experiences is how quickly we acclimatize.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>For this exercise, he suggests that you eat one of your favorite pieces of food, and notice the difference between the first bite and the 10th bite.<\/p>\n<p>First bite might be, &#8220;wow, this is really good &#8211; no wonder it&#8217;s my favorite food&#8221;<br \/>\nSecond bite might be, &#8220;yeah, it&#8217;s pretty good&#8221;<br \/>\nThird bite might be, &#8220;it&#8217;s good&#8221;.<br \/>\nAt some point it might be, &#8220;what&#8217;s next?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>He suggests the senses become dulled by contact.<\/p>\n<p>Perhaps you can try this today!
