{"id":687,"date":"2020-01-12T03:00:00","date_gmt":"2020-01-12T09:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.grzesina.net\/meditation\/?p=687"},"modified":"2020-01-11T22:29:13","modified_gmt":"2020-01-12T04:29:13","slug":"january-12-staying-aware-yet-compassionate","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.grzesina.net\/meditation\/january-12-staying-aware-yet-compassionate\/","title":{"rendered":"January 12 &#8211; Staying aware yet compassionate"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Dear Friends,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Continuing with the talk from Kamala Masters, &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/sr.dharmaseed.org\/teacher\/99\/talk\/50011\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Equanimity-Seeing the World with Quiet Eyes (opens in a new tab)\">Equanimity-Seeing the World with Quiet Eyes<\/a>&#8220;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kamala poses a second question we can ask ourselves.<br><em>How can we stay aware yet compassionate towards ourselves when we do react?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She says,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>We oftentimes judge ourselves after [reacting]. Then we&#8217;re paralyzed again, because we did or said something, it caused a kerfluffle, and now what do we do?<br>We can bring equanimity there also.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Kamala describes equanimity as: spacious, calm, balanced, well-grounded. Embodied, compassionate wisdom. She clarifies that it&#8217;s not like balancing on a razor&#8217;s edge, but rather like being on the top of a grounded mountain, and you see all sides. She says there is courage, patience, flexibility, perseverance, a sense of agency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>This spacious balance implies that the heart and mind can be big enough to contain all that life presents.
