But it all starts simply.<\/p>\n<p>Bhante Gunaratana has this simple reminder about perception of breathing:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>When you breathe mindfully, you see the arising, existing, and passing away of the form of the breath, or breath-body, immediately as it happens. In the same way, as you breathe in and breathe out, your perceive that feeling, perception, thought, and consciousness are arising, existing, and passing away. When the mind if fully engaged with this &#8220;participatory observation,&#8221; there is no room in the mind for clinging to the aggregate.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I invite you to let all the words settle, and go back to the basics &#8211; mindfulness of breathing.<\/p>\n<p>Let&#8217;s start with a poem from Danna Faulds, from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Go-Poems-Heart-Danna-Faulds\/dp\/0974410608\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Go In and In: Poems From the Heart of Yoga<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>Breath of Life<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I breathe in All That Is &#8211;<br \/>\nAwareness expanding<br \/>\nto take everything in,<br \/>\nas if my heart beats<br \/>\nthe world into being.<\/p>\n<p>From the unnamed<br \/>\nvastness beneath the<br \/>\nmind, I breathe my way<br \/>\nto wholeness and healing.<\/p>\n<p>Inhalation. Exhalation.<br \/>\nEach Breath a &#8220;yes,&#8221;<br \/>\nand a letting go,<br \/>\na journey, and a<br \/>\ncoming home.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I invite you to do a mindfulness of breathing meditation &#8211; whatever your favorite is.
