{"id":209,"date":"2017-01-11T02:00:56","date_gmt":"2017-01-11T08:00:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.grzesina.net\/meditation\/?p=209"},"modified":"2021-11-02T13:35:05","modified_gmt":"2021-11-02T19:35:05","slug":"2017-01-11-midweek-recap","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.grzesina.net\/meditation\/2017-01-11-midweek-recap\/","title":{"rendered":"January 11 &#8211; Midweek recap"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dear Friends,<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;ve covered a lot of ground these past few days, so let&#8217;s take a moment to recap.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>We started by talking about intention &#8211; setting an intention for the year, the day, a meditation practice, a chore &#8211; and we also looked at closing the day, practice, etc. with a dedication.<\/li>\n<li>We reviewed a few different mindfulness practices:\n<ul>\n<li>Mindful of breathing (How do you know that you\u2019re breathing?)<\/li>\n<li>Body scan<\/li>\n<li>Choiceless awareness (What&#8217;s obvious?)<\/li>\n<li>Walking meditation &#8211; both the formal practice, and a broader form that can be used in daily life<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>We looked at forming habits with the cue, routine, reward cycle, and considered how we could find a cue for a mindfulness routine, and then notice the reward to reinforce that cue for next time.\n<ul>\n<li>We also discussed noticing\u00a0joy can become a habit, where we can stop, notice, appreciate, and share.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>We&#8217;ve discussed a couple of ways to bring mindfulness into daily activities\n<ul>\n<li>A brief, ordinary, self-initiated task that happens several times a day &#8211; for me, taking a sip of tea<\/li>\n<li>A longer, 3 to 5 minute activity that happens maybe a couple times in a day &#8211; for me, feeding the dogs<\/li>\n<li>Take a moment to review your activities\u00a0(you can still send them to me if you want them to show up in the rest of the emails this week&#8230;)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Andrea Fella has a handout that summarizes the exercises that she has suggested, so you might find that a useful thing to review too:<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/audiodharma.us-east-1.linodeobjects.com\/documents\/113\/Daily_Life_Practice_General_Handout.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">http:\/\/media.audiodharma.org\/documents\/Daily_Life_Practice_General_Handout.pdf<\/a><\/p>\n<p>So take some time today to appreciate your efforts, and then recommit to your intention to practice.
