I imagine most people who have signed\u00a0up for the emails will be people who know me from local activities, but in case we haven&#8217;t met, hi! Here&#8217;s a bit about me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I first got into mindfulness and meditation at the beginning of 2014, when I took a <a label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.umassmemorialhealthcare.org\/umass-memorial-center-mindfulness\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction<\/a> (MBSR) from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.jeannecorrigal.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jeanne Corrigal<\/a>. At the end of the eight-week session, Jeanne suggested several ways to support our fledgling practice, including coming to the Wednesday evening sessions, hosted by the <a href=\"https:\/\/saskatooninsight.com\/wp\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Saskatoon Insight Meditation Community<\/a> (SIMC). I have been a regular participant with the SIMC ever since. Since the fall of 2015 until the pandemic shut down things in 2020, I was also part of the collaborative group of leaders for the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/smimsg.wordpress.com\/contact\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Sunday Morning Insight Meditation Study Group<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I&#8217;ve attended several retreats with various teachers including Jeanne Corrigal, <a rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/desertdharma.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Susie Harrington<\/a>, <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" label=\"Adrianne Ross (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bcims.org\/teachers#comp-leywb9bm1\" target=\"_blank\">Adrianne Ross<\/a>, <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" label=\"Pascal Auclai (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pascalauclair.org\/?lang=en\" target=\"_blank\">Pascal Auclair<\/a>, <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Anushka Fernandopulle (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.anushkaf.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Anushka Fernandopulle<\/a>, <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Bob Stahl (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mindfulnessprograms.com\/art-faculty\" target=\"_blank\">Bob Stahl<\/a>, <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.spiritrock.org\/howard-cohn\" target=\"_blank\">Howie Cohn<\/a>, <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/markcoleman.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Mark Coleman<\/a>, and <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" label=\"Sharda Rogell (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.shardarogell.com\/home\" target=\"_blank\">Sharda Rogell<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I was part of SIMC&#8217;s <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" label=\"Living the Dharma Program (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/saskatooninsight.com\/wp\/events\/2018-events\/living-the-dharma-program-2018\/\" target=\"_blank\">Living the Dharma Program<\/a>, which was co-offered by Susie Harrington and Jeanne Corrigal. It was really great to be able to deepen my practice with the support of a local community of peers. For two years, I also participated in the SIMC&#8217;s <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/saskatooninsight.com\/wp\/upcoming-events\/unwinding-whiteness\/\" target=\"_blank\">Unwinding Whiteness<\/a> offerings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I&#8217;ve also taken several on-line programs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>In October 2025, I completed a two-year <a href=\"https:\/\/www.buddhistgeeks.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Buddhist Geeks<\/a> teacher training program with <a href=\"https:\/\/linktr.ee\/vincehorn\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Vince Fakhoury Horn<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.emilyhorn.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Emily Horn<\/a>, and I also engaged in <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20210226182446\/https:\/\/www.socialmeditation.training\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Social Meditation Facilitation Training<\/a> with Vince for many years.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In 2022-2023, I was in the year-long <a href=\"https:\/\/www.spiritrock.org\/programs\/training\/liberation-through-emptiness-and-awareness-practices\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.spiritrock.org\/programs\/training\/liberation-through-emptiness-and-awareness-practices\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">LEAP program<\/a> at Spirit Rock, with guiding teachers Sally Armstrong, Susie Harrington, and Dawn Scott.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>I completed the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mindfulnesstraininginstitute.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Mindfulness Training Institute&#8217;s Certified Mindfulness Teacher Training<\/a> with <a href=\"https:\/\/markcoleman.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Mark Coleman<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/martinaylward.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Martin Aylward<\/a> in July 2021.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>I have taken several online programs through <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bcims.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">BCIMS<\/a>, with Rachel Lewis and Adrianne Ross and others since 2020.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>I&#8217;m currently part of the <a href=\"https:\/\/saskatooninsight.com\/wp\/events\/2024-events\/living-the-dharma-in-community\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Living the Dharma in Community<\/a> program through SIMC.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.compassioninstitute.com\/cct\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Compassion Cultivation Training<\/a> (CCT) in the fall of 2021.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Many courses from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.buddhistinquiry.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Barre Center for Buddhist Studies<\/a>, including Emptiness: A Yearlong Study Program on &#8220;Seeing That Frees&#8221; (2024-2025), Mindfulness of Breathing (8-week program in 2022), Satipa\u1e6d\u1e6dh\u0101na Meditation (9-week program in 2019), Entering the Path\u00a0(12-week iteration in 2017 and a year-long graduates&#8217; iteration in 2018 and again in 2019), A Practical Understanding of Attachment to Perception (in 2018), and Self, Not Self (in 2017).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>From the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.uclahealth.org\/marc\/default.cfm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">UCLA Mindful Awareness Research Center<\/a>, the 10-month Intensive Practice Program (in 2018) and several&nbsp;Mindful Awareness Practices&nbsp;online classes (2017-2018).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>From <a href=\"https:\/\/wisdomexperience.org\/explore\/?media=courses\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Wisdom Academy<\/a>, Guy Armstrong&#8217;s Emptiness course (2017).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>From <a href=\"https:\/\/www.spiritrock.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Spirit Rock<\/a> offerings of: Essential Buddhist Teachings (1-4) with Mark Coleman (2015-2016), and&nbsp;Everyday Life as Mindfulness Practice with Sylvia Boorstein (2016).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>I love reading, and I&#8217;ve found inspiration from many books, including those by Sharon Salzberg, Joseph Goldstein, Oren Jay Sofer, Sebene Selassie, Ven. Analayo, Mark Coleman, Tara Brach, Sylvia Boorstein, Pema Chodron, Kristin Neff,  Jack Kornfield, Thich Nhat Hanh, and many others. I also follow several news feeds and podcasts and enjoy reading and hearing about the practice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the fall of 2016, I attended a two-day <a rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/siyli.org\/\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Search Inside Yourself<\/em><\/a> course, which is based on Chade-Meng Tan&#8217;s book by the same name. It&#8217;s a source of inspiration!<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>I love animals.
