Dear Friends,
Yesterday we began exploring the air element as movement, motion, and pressure. The reflection today is an invitation to notice how these qualities show up in your own experience.
Air is most obvious through the breath, but it is not limited to breathing alone. Movement shows up in many ways: the subtle shifts of posture, the rhythm of walking, the rise and fall of energy, even the small adjustments the body makes to stay upright and balanced.
You might begin by simply noticing movement in the body:
- The in-and-out of breathing, without trying to change it
- The feeling of expansion and contraction in the chest or abdomen
- Subtle motions, such as swallowing, shifting, or adjusting
Air can also be noticed through pressure and change:
- The contact of air on skin
- The feeling of breath entering and leaving the body
- The way movement continues even when you are “at rest”
As you reflect, see if it is possible to let movement be just as it is. Breathing doesn’t need to be calm. The body doesn’t need to be still. Air moves according to conditions, and part of getting to know this element is simply seeing how varied that movement can be.
You might also notice how air shows up beyond the body:
- Wind moving through trees or across open spaces
- Changes in weather or temperature
- Sounds carried through the air
Can you be more curious about becoming more familiar with movement itself: how it is sensed, how it changes, and how it is supporting life moment by moment.
I always appreciate hearing from you, what you notice. You can reply to the email or post a comment to share a brief reflection.
With good wishes,
Andrea
